One of the greatest “urban legends” of the weight loss world is the General Motors diet, also known as the GM diet. This is a 7 day eating plan which is rumored to have been developed by GM in the 1980s to help workers lose weight. As far as I know, GM has never admitted to actually producing such a plan.

As of now, there is no official General Motors diet, there is no one who claims ownership or responsibility for this program, but it has still remained popular and well sought even after all these years.

There are several strict rules in this diet:

No alcohol is permitted
You have to drink a lot of water, at least 10 glasses each and every day
You can have water, soda, sugarless black tea, and sugarless black coffee. On the 7th day of the diet you’re also allowed fruit juices.
The program itself is a structured eating plan of 7 days. According to some sources, you can repeat the 7 day cycles as many times as you like it is all up to how much you need to lose and how well the diet agrees with you.
Here is how the 7 days are laid out: Continue reading ‘GM Diet Review – How Does the General Motors Diet Work?’ »

There is a natural lifespan to normal, healthy cells that is linked to the so-called telomerase shortening mechanism. This is very important because it basically helps the cells to avoid developing into cancer. Telomeres have been described as the ends of shoelaces, without which the lace would unravel.

When it comes to genetics, any organism, We live in an age of advanced scientific exploration. Genetic research is at an all-time high and new discoveries in this field are cropping up every day, literally. GMOs abound in plants. The most widely grown GMO crops include canola, corn, soybeans, and cotton.

Many believe that GMOs will create better tasting food that is more nutritious and long lasting. Others hope that they will help developing countries to become more sustainable. Although these hopes are positive, there is still very little testing to back up these claims. Many worry that the FDA, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and the Department of Agriculture hasn’t done any long-term testing of GMOs in food and in the environment. The truth is, it could very well take years for unhealthy effects of GMOs to develop. Because the government did not require any pre-market research, we have been eating foods with GMOs since 1996. Without testing and long-term research, some experts believe that GMO foods could have new and different risks for you, your family, and the environment.
