Smoking is a hazardous habit for both, men as well as women. Everybody has been talking or writing a lot about the disadvantages of smoking in men. But, it has now become a need to time to explain the disadvantages of smoking to women. There are some disadvantages of the smoking that are specific to the women. Up course they will also face the demerits of smoking that are faced by men, but may affect their health in a little different way. The problem of smoking was previously only associated with the men, but due to the women’s addiction to this unhealthy habit even their health is at the risk of disadvantages of smoking. As per the science it has been proved that women face more problems due to the smoking than that of the men. Disadvantages of smoking to women are as follows:

1. The first disadvantage of the smoking is pregnancy failures. It has been noted in many research studies that women who smoke a lot are not able to conceive. This is because smoking damages the ovule formation cycle that leads the pregnancy failures in women. Even the Fallopian tubes are being damaged that adds up to the problem of the pregnancy failures.

2. Lack of sexual libido is the effect of the excessive smoking. Women who smoke a lot generally face the problem of insufficient sexual desire. They don’t feel interested in sex at all. This is because smoking affects the neurons in the brain that helps the women to respond to the sexual stimulation. Even the loss of sensation to the reproductive organs is one of the reasons for this. Women face this problem due the insufficient blood supply to the vaginal region due to the excessive smoking habit.

3. Abnormal menstrual cycle and pain during menstruation is noted commonly among the smoking women. Smoking destructs all the body cycles. You will notice that your menstrual cycle has become abnormal and pain during the menstruation as an adverse effect of smoking.

4. Hormonal imbalance occurs in women due the excessive amount of the nicotine smoke that enters the body and effect the endocrinology system. This system produces the required amount of the hormones if this system functioning is disturbed then certainly the production of the hormones is reduced thus leading to the variety of the health problems.

5. Infertility is being augmented in women due to the smoking habit. The 22 chromosomes from the woman that participate in the formation of the ovule are destroyed due to the smoking. This way the women are not able to produce the offspring. Fertility levels in the women who a smoke a lot are gradually decreased by the smoking.

6. Breast cancer in being linked to the smoking habit. The chances of suffering with the breast cancer are doubled due to the smoking habit. Smoking promotes the deposition of the more fats in the breast region. This provides enough nutrition to the cells. As a result the multiplication of the cells gets uncontrollable and you suffer with the breast cancer.

7. After pregnancy, normal women produces the milk due to the lactation. But, the women who smoke a lot are not able to produce the milk. This is because smoking habit increases the amount of the nicotine content in the body. Nicotine content interferes with the lactation producing effect in the women; as a result these women either produce very less milk or no milk at all.

These are the disadvantages of smoking in women. You need to give up the smoking habit today to stay away from these demerits.

Champix is a revolutionary new drug that has made great inroads when it comes to smoking cessation. Champix, with varenicline as its active ingredient, is a new-age medication specifically designed to help people stop smoking. It makes it easy for smokers to kick the habit with ease. Its active ingredient is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist. Its working is markedly different from the various NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapies) being used to help smokers leave smoking. Champix has a two pronged approach to help people reduce and ultimately stop their smoking habit:

It helps reduce the cravings for a smoke

It decreases the pleasurable effects of not only cigarettes but also other tobacco products as well

The working of Champix

As a partial agonist, varenicline belongs to a subtype known as nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Both nicotine and varenicline stimulate the same receptors in the brain. What this does is that Champix removes the cravings associated with nicotine withdrawal. Smokers, looking to quit, do not suffer as much from the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal when they take Champix. The medication also acts by blocking the receptors from the effects of nicotine that is inhaled as a result of smoking. This also means that the nicotine inhaled, does not provide the same pleasurable affect to the body. Because of this, smokers slowly but surely are able to cut down on their smoking.

Champix dosages

Available in tablet form, the dosage of this medication is to be taken over a period of 3 months (12 weeks). Typically, the starter pack of Champix has 11 white tablets of 0.5 mg each and 14 blue tablets of 1 mg each. The dosage that is usually prescribed is as follows:

Between days 1 and 3, one needs to take 0.5mg of Champix daily

Between days 4 and 7, 0.5 mg of Champix must be taken once in the morning and once in the evening. The timings when you take the tablet must remain the same on all days

The 1 mg dosage of Champix begins from day 8 and continues on to day 14. Two tablets of Champix need to be taken two times a day, one in the morning and one in the evening, at the same time each day

From day 15, till you complete your treatment, you will be asked to take a 1 mg dose of Champix two times a day, in the morning and in the evening; same time each day.

At times you might face some unpleasant side effects when you begin the 1mg dosage of Champix. If this is the case then you can go back to a 0.5mg dosage that can be taken two times a day throughout the duration of the treatment.

Champix or Zyban

Both medications help smokers stop smoking. But, their working is different. While Champix was always meant to be an anti-smoking drug, Zyban was originally developed as an anti-depressant. The working of Zyban and how it controls smoking is largely a mystery for the medical community. But, one thing is certain and that its intake increases the amount of neurotransmitters like noradrenaline and dopamine and thus helps in the reduction of cravings. Champix has had a better success rate then Zyban with respect to the number of people quitting smoking with Champix.

Side Effects of Champix

Every prescription medication has various side effects associated with it. Champix is no different. The side effects of this medication include gas, vomiting, constipation and even a change in dreams. There are a few other side effects, which include chest pain, dizziness, depression, menstrual disorder, depression, anxiety, and hypertension. It’s important that if there is a recurrence of these side effects that you seek medical help.

On the whole Champix is a safe drug and is also quite successful. Most people who use Chantix have shown a very minimal manifestation of these side effects. At the end of the day it’s a drug that successfully acts against the smoking habit. For smokers, Champix has effectively emerged as a miraculous drug that helps them quit smoking with considerable ease and efficacy. Champix is a prescription medication and is available only after you consult your doctor for the same.

It’s easily available online, wherein the process of buying Champix is easy and very convenient.

Webmaster associated with online clinic “HealthExpress” this site provides various information on Champix (Varenicline) and helps people in curing Smoking Cessation, resources are available on site HealthExpress.co.uk.

I’m not sure what it is about human nature that makes people think they know better than the people putting out the various products we use, but the more time I spend on the internet working with various otc medications, the more I’m sure that very few people read the directions anymore. In the case of hair spray and toothpaste, this may not be dire, there for the most part, things should be used as directed – teeth whiteners, cold medicine, and especially smoking cessation aids like nicotine patches.
The strange thing about the general population’s disregard for directions is that they always seem to think more is better. The logic goes something like, “Well, if 30 minutes a day will gradually whiten my teeth, 2 hours a day will making them sparkling white by tomorrow!” It doesn’t take into account the fact that products are formulated to work a certain way for a reason. In our whitestrips example, that reason is because whitening teeth too fast will make the teeth very sensitive, damage the enamel and can even create uneven whitening with white spots.
However, using nicotine patches incorrectly can have longer-lasting and more dramatic side effects. Using two nicotine patches will not make it easier to quit smoking, because the purpose of nicotine patches is not to “cure” nicotine addiction. Instead, it’s an effective way to gradually lessen the nicotine cravings and to minimize withdrawal symptoms. In other words, adding more nicotine patches in an effort to quit faster will actually make it harder to quit because it will take longer to get the nicotine out of your system.
In addition to that, nicotine patches are not without risks, even when used correctly. They can cause dizziness, nausea, skin irritation, and high blood pressure. However, they are given in doses that are safe for most users. When taken more often than directed or when taken two at a time, the chances for serious complications increase dramatically and cause a nicotine overdose.
Nicotine patches actually tell users not to smoke or use any tobacco products while wearing the patch because it can cause an overdose of nicotine. However, the nicotine remains in the bloodstream after the patch is removed, so it actually remains dangerous to use tobacco products for several hours after the patch has come off. Even people who chain smoked before trying to quit should make sure that they avoid thinking their nicotine tolerance will keep them safe from a toxic overdose. They should also be disposed of carefully – the patches contain enough nicotine to poison children and pets if they get a hold of them, even if they’ve already been used.
Nicotine addiction should never been taken lightly, nor should quitting. Make sure that you understand any of the products you decide to use if you need help quitting.

Millions of people all around the world smoke, pouring billions of their money into the pockets of the tobacco industry. To many, particularly those that have been smoking for a long time, the prospect of quitting smoking seems very daunting. An addiction to smoking is a serious and complex one. It manifests itself in both a physical way, in that your body craves the nicotine the cigarettes contain, and a psychological way, in that your mind has been conditioned to believe that you have to smoke or terrible things will happen to you. To overcome this two sided assault it is important that you come up with a plan of attack in order to quit smoking. Although the cold-turkey or willpower technique works for some people, the vast majority of smokers will have success only with a more comprehensive and detailed plan with the right amount of preparation.

When you first start considering quitting smoking, it will probably seem so far away from where you are as a smoker that to reach it is either impossible or just too hard to start. Keep in mind that thousands of people a year, people that were also smokers just like you, quit smoking. If they are able to do it, there’s no reason that you can’t. Many smokers also feel that after a certain time spent smoking it is “too-late” to quit, that there is no benefit and the damage is done. Simply put, this isn’t true, and is nothing more than an excuse to avoid the attempt to quit smoking. The health benefits of quitting smoking begin the very day you stop and apply to anyone, anytime.

Before you actually have your last cigarette, begin to visualise yourself as a non-smoker. Visualisation is a very powerful psychological weapon in the battle to quit smoking. When you think about your everyday activities imagine yourself doing them without the cigarette break. Spend a lot of time thinking of the reasons that you want to quit smoking. If you have no worthwhile reasons to quit, why should you do it? Think of as many as you can and write them down. Learn about the health benefits of quitting, not just for yourself but the people around you as well, such as your children or other members of your family that are exposed to your cigarette smoke. Do the maths and come up with some figures for the amount of money you’ll save by not buying cigarettes, then think of something you’ll use that money for. It is essential to get your mind in the right frame for quitting.

Once you have achieved the right frame of mind it’s time to plan having your last cigarette. To give you an idea of what will happen, understand that the human body is incredibly resilient, and that your health will improve as soon as you stop smoking, literally within 20 minutes your blood pressure will drop down to normal levels as the nicotine starts to leave your body. 8 hours after your last cigarette, carbon monoxide levels will drop and oxygen levels will rise in your blood stream returning it to normal levels. At 24 hours after your last cigarette, you statistically reduce your chance of a heart attack. Only 48 hours after your last cigarette, your sense of taste and smell will improve as your nerve endings start re-growing.

By coming up with a concrete and achievable plan to quit smoking you will greatly increase your chances of success. It is crucial to understand how being in the right frame of mind will affect your chances of success. Knowing why you are quitting and believing in yourself, in your attempt to quit are also essential. Once you’ve stopped consider yourself a non-smoker, and to help, remind yourself of the health benefits you will be experiencing immediately after putting out that last cigarette.

There seem to be two distinct aspects to smoking: habitual behaviour and nicotine addiction. Many smokers want to quit smoking altogether which means breaking away from both sides of the smoking problem. However, there are others who simply want to change how they smoke due to issues of family, etc. Let’s see how to do this…

Habitual smoking

The physical activity of smoking i.e. buying the packet, opening it, putting the cigarette in your mouth, lighting it, and taking that first inhalation of smoke, form a pattern of behaviour that is repeated many, many times. Patterns of behaviour when continued for a while become habits. Your mind and body absorb the pattern into your normal daily activity and relatively quickly it becomes normal. In fact, the pattern becomes so ingrained that your mind and body actively crave the activity to fulfil part of its basic needs. This is when the smoking habit has become a powerful dependency that is difficult to change.

On a psychological level the repeated physical actions associated with the smoking habit create emotional triggers: anticipation, desire, need, and eventually some form of fulfilment. These emotional triggers are what spur you on to continue with smoking and in this way reinforce the whole habit. The whole process takes on a self-generating cycle that goes around and around unless it is checked and the habitual process broken.

How smoking affects your family

For many smokers family life can be difficult, especially if you are the only smoker in the household, not because you smoke but because the activity of smoking brings with it other issues. The most obvious issue for non-smoking family members, such as young children, is the smoke from cigarettes. It has been well known for a long time that passive smoking, inhaling cigarette smoke from the environment, can be just as dangerous (if not more so) as smoking the actual cigarette. There are many recorded cases of lung cancer in young people who have never been smokers as a direct result of other family members smoking at home. Children are particularly prone to this problem later in life if one or both of the parents smoke at home.

A second aspect of smoking that can and does impact on family life is the hygiene and cleanliness issue. Cigarette smoke permeates everything it touches, clothes smell, hair smells, furniture smells. The smoke also discolours painted surfaces such as ceilings and upholstered furniture; you only have to go into a bar to see these effects. This can create a very unpleasant living environment for your family. Cigarettes also produce copious amounts of ash which, if not dealt with responsibly, can ruin clothing and furniture as well as generally being very unpleasant when it falls on a floor or table surface. Over full ashtrays are also very unpleasant for the family to live with.

Unpleasant as these things are, for the smoker who doesn’t want to quit smoking but does want to create a better home environment in which to raise healthy children and/or have fewer problems with a non-smoking partner or spouse, there is a simple solution. Maintain the pleasure that your smoking gives you but do so in a way that does not adversely affect the ones you love and over time can save money by costing less.

There are still millions of people in the world today that smoke despite the health warnings and with all the information we have about smoking.

There are also those people who have decided that they have had enough and wish to finish up with this habit and are now looking around for help with their efforts.

If you belong to either group and you want to quit the habit the tips outlined below will be of help to you.

1) Make smoking as painful as possible

If you have failed to give up smoking it’s quite possible that you have not attached enough pain to the habit and hence you keep going back to it. We will do allot in life to avoid pain so why not leverage this to help you quit. So have a think right now, what’s the most painful thing about smoking? is it the health problems or the smelly clothes? You need to decide. If you can’t find one try going to visit a few cancer victims and seeing how things turn out for smokers. Whatever it takes. Continuing smoking has to be as unattractive an option as possible.

2) Make the non smoking you very attractive

You also need to look at the benefits of being a non smoker. There are many but find whichever is the most attractive to you. Is it being able to see your kids grow up? Being able to run up the stairs? Whatever it is latch on to it and let it guide you. It will keep you off the smokes as you continue along.

3) Take action

Remember that nothing in life will get done until you make the decision and put things into place. You have to stop putting off the idea of quitting and finish up now. Allot of people put off so many decisions in life put putting this one off could kill you so decide that you want to be a non smoker today and be it.

When we are quitting smoking we could always use some extra advice and help along the way.

In the first three parts of this article series, we have discussed how the reasons a person started smoking at an early age helped to build the psychological smoking mechanism. This mechanism begins to operate beyond conscious control because the smoker has long since forgotten why they started smoking. The first part of the process to remove smoking is to use special techniques to recall these early reasons. The second part of the process is to examine and remove the reasons a person continues to smoke.

In this article, we will discuss why smokers ignore the serious health consequences of smoking.

What Would You Do?

You’ve been smoking for over 25 years. Your mother has been a smoker for over 40 years. She calls you on the phone one day and says she’s been diagnosed with lung cancer. You watch your mother deteriorate and a few months later, she passes away. As a smoker, what would you do?

If you are like a client of mine, you’d keep right on smoking!

How Could This Be?

If you are part of the 76% of the population who are nonsmokers, you probably think this is outrageous. How could a person see what cigarettes did to their mother and continue to use them?

It’s the same reason that people have a hard time simply quitting cigarettes:

The Psychological Smoking Mechanism

This mechanism is created in most people before the age of 18. The average age is around 15 although some people start smoking even earlier. It is no accident that smoking starts during the time of puberty and the identity crisis. The identity crisis is an unpleasant period of childhood where there is confusion of self. The person is not a child, but not an adult either. They struggle to define themselves.

Due to body and hormonal changes, puberty is an incredibly intense period of a person’s life. Everything is amplified. Emotions are strong and the world view is still that of a child being exaggerated all out of proportion. The child wants to speed up the process to be declared an adult.

Smoking is an attempt to resolve the identity crisis. It is a way to declare, “Hey, I am an adult!” Adults smoke, therefore, I am an adult!

Overcoming this confusion and ambiguity is of critical importance; it is a strong motivator for the young person. It is what gets them to apply the incredible WILL POWER necessary to turn off the normal body, protective reactions to harsh, hot smoke entering their delicate lungs.

The fact that learning to smoke is a hard, unpleasant task makes the young person more strongly defend it. They have numerous reasons why they HAVE to smoke. Any positive feedback they get from their friends adds to the power of the psychological smoking mechanism.

By the time adolescence is over and adulthood is reached, the mechanism is on autopilot. It continues to collect reasons for itself to exist. It operates independently of the conscious self.

The Nature of the Psychological Smoking Mechanism

The psychological smoking mechanism is frozen back in childhood with all the inexperience and shortsightedness of the child. The emotions and world view of the child define the mechanism.

Children have a limited view of mortality. They have trouble conceiving of themselves being harmed or dying. This is why there are many teenage driving accidents.

The whole topic of smoking is controlled by the psychological smoking mechanism. When you try to discuss the topic of smoking with a smoker, you are dealing with the 15 year old child, not the adult. This is why trying to have a rational discussion about the dangers of smoking doesn’t get very far.

The 15 year old child doesn’t believe the health issues. The 15 year old child believes that smoking is an important part of their life. They NEED smoking. It is something to be protected. When the dangers of smoking are discussed, you have them symbolically with fingers in the ears and a chorus of La, La, La, La, I can’t hear you.

A Real Life Example

My client, Bonnie Ryan, has graciously consented to have her story presented as an example of how the psychological smoking mechanism overrides the adult thinking mind. It was Bonnie’s mother who died of lung cancer and yet, she refused to quit. It was too important to her.

About nine years after her mother’s death, Bonnie started having some problems with her lungs. It was only at this point she decided that she needed to stop smoking. However, she really didn’t want to quit. Bonnie writes:

“After smoking for 35 years, my health was deteriorating and I knew it was time to give up smoking. Emotionally, I grieved at the idea of losing what I gained from smoking, and I was convinced that I gained a lot. Since my mother smoked through my childhood, I could not even imagine being smoke-free for the first time in my life.”

You’ll notice that she grieved at the idea of giving up smoking. It was like something very basic and sacred was being taken from her. Something that she NEEDED!

She of course, had heard all the health dangers of smoking over the years but like most smokers, tuned them out. She had convinced herself how important smoking was to her well being. Watching her mother waste away and die of lung cancer was never associated with her own smoking. It wasn’t until she herself started having health problems, that she consciously made the decision to quit.

It was not her grieving at the decision to give up cigarettes, it was her psychological smoking mechanism she began to construct at the age of 15. A mechanism made by and of the emotions of a child, viewing the world of smoking as a 15 year old and never changing its perspective. A childish mechanism always ignoring the damaging effects of smoking and constantly looking for rationalizations to continue smoking.

The Mechanism Has to Go

The only way a person can remove cigarettes from their life is to disassemble the psychological smoking mechanism. This is accomplished by identifying and removing the reasons a person started smoking and the reasons they continue to smoke. When this is done, the person becomes, not an ex-smoker, but a nonsmoker.

Removing the psychological smoking mechanism puts the individual back in conscious control with all the perceptions and attributes they as adults, possess. They no longer have to fight against the illogic of the child mechanism they created. They no longer have conflict when their logical adult perceptions are overruled by the shortsighted, illogic of the child created psychological smoking mechanism.

When the mechanism is gone, so is smoking, permanently. There are special techniques that need to be used and the smoker has to invest some time and effort. With the right psychological tools, the incredible power of the mind can be redirected back to conscious control and the childish psychological smoking mechanism removed. When you Unlearn Smoking(tm) your system goes back to the time before you started smoking and the body’s normal defense mechanisms against harsh, hot smoke in your delicate lungs begins to work again. Smoking becomes aversive just like it was with the first cigarette. At this point, you won’t be motivated to put out the tremendous effort required to turn them back off! You have become a NONsmoker.

Smokers trying to stop have tried patches, pills, diets and cold turkey with little or partial success. The smokers desire to handle a cigarette and feel the inhale usually out weighs giving up the habit without the aid of a cigarette fixation that most programs lack. There is one exception and that is the electronic cigarette. Most of the world never heard of electronic cigarettes until a few years ago. Technology has provided the smoker with the choice of selecting an alternative to the smoking problem in every corner of the land. E-Cig was one of the first to engage in the research and development of the electronic cigarette in 2003 and started marketing the product which has set a standard for others to follow in 2004. Internet World Wide Web site for marketing the electronic cigarette was created by E-cig around 2005. The electronic cigarette before 2005 had only one established taste and one fixed amount of nicotine per cig. Electronic cigarette providers today have greatly increased and improved by adding new popular product features like the new two piece cig to compliment the one piece, the identical traditional size cig to go with all the larger ones and the large choice of tastes and densities and new atomizers all at a competitive prices for refined smokers. A new smoking product called an electronic cigarette will ever affect the way smokers smoke and quit the habit. Imagine an electronic device that looks, tastes, feels, and acts like a cigarette but makes a tar free, odorless, nicotine vapor that only resembles smoke and is free of most of the chemicals and carcinogens found in traditional cigarettes. How does it work you ask? The e-cig uses a battery, an atomizer, and a cartridge filled with a liquid nicotine solution working together to create the illusion of smoking. Heating the element inside of the E-cig occurs when the smoker inhales and powers the atomizer. When activated the atomizer forms a smoke like vapor immediately from the heating of the liquid nicotine solution. The traditional cigarette burns tobacco while the electronic cigarette offers many advantages because it does not burn tobacco and operates completely different. Every time you inhale a tobacco cigarette deadly chemicals and carcinogens fill your lungs. The electronic cigarette relies on a much healthier process that works by vaporizing a liquid nicotine based solution. The electronic cigarette does not fall into No Smoking Bans since the vapor does not fall in that unhealthy class. You are vaporizing not smoking so you can now have an E-cig inside the bar, restaurant, office, or even in an airport knowing you are choosing a healthier alternative to tobacco smoking. The electronic cigarette has other benefits besides reducing the harmful chemicals and carcinogens while quitting tobacco smoking. E-cigs have a pleasant faint smell compared to the pungent stink of regular smokes, do not stain teeth like tobacco that requires a whitening paste to deal with the tar discolorations and no fire threat since there is no flame compared to the number of fires caused by careless smokers. The way to quit smoking is to join the electronic cigarette vaporizers and reduce the nicotine levels as you overcome the tobacco addiction and at the same time save money, stop staining your teeth, eliminate that awful smell and stop worrying about smoking in bed.
