Bulk seems to be a very funny word when it comes to weight management. It seems that when anyone ever thinks about adding bulk, they think about adding weight. People think about the huge linemen in the NFL with large bellies and wide butts. Or they think about the competitive weight lifters who have nothing but muscle on their bodies, and usually take illegal supplements in order to get that way. Yet, Bulk isn’t the enemy of a person that is trying to get their body into better shape. Adding bulk to your frame will add more muscle to your frame. While this will add weight to the scale at the beginning of your weight loss program, it will actually have major weight loss benefits in the future.
Lean muscle is the best way to help your body to increase its metabolism. There is a proportion that works to help you lose weight; the more lean muscle that your body has on its frame the more calories that your body will burn. Even when your body is idle it will burn up to the same number of calories, depending on how much lean muscle you have, that you will burn doing a complete cardio session at the gym. The reason your body will burn more calories is due to muscle requiring upkeep. Unlike fat that is designed to be efficiently stored in your body, muscle must be up kept by the burning of the calories. When you are trying to add bulk to your frame you should try to help your body to build lean muscles. Continue reading ‘Alternative Ways to Add Bulk to Your Frame’ »

Weight is almost a constant obsession with Americans. We fear the scale, and judgmental stares. We secretly believe that being overweight or obese is because of our lack of self control. Sometimes we become angry at ourselves or depressed because of our weight. Body dysmorphic disorder is a condition that is common in the United States. This is manifested by a person’s fixation on their physical appearance and small or nonexistent flaws. This is considered a psychiatric disorder that is growing in prevalence. Surveys show that more than 85 percent of Americans believe that they should lose weight.
However, sometimes we reach a point where we have little control over our weight. Of course we need to be healthy. We should work to avoid obesity or get ourselves safely out of it, because it is a serious danger to health. But other than that: exercise regularly, eat nutritiously and balanced meals, take a good multivitamin, and give yourself a break. There are many factors about our weight such as genetics and environment that we cannot control. Many people will never have the body of a model no matter how hard they work for it and that is all right. Most models are airbrushed and starving. When it comes to genetics, any organism, We live in an age of advanced scientific exploration. Genetic research is at an all-time high and new discoveries in this field are cropping up every day, literally. In the field of genetic research involving the food we eat every day, there are many developments that may surprise you. be it a plant, animal, or microorganism that is genetically engineered to overcome natural boundaries is commonly referred to as a “GMO†or Genetically Modified Organism. GMOs abound in plants. The most widely grown GMO crops include canola, corn, soybeans, and cotton.
Many believe that GMOs will create better tasting food that is more nutritious and long lasting. Others hope that they will help developing countries to become more sustainable. Although these hopes are positive, there is still very little testing to back up these claims. Many worry that the FDA, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and the Department of Agriculture hasn’t done any long-term testing of GMOs in food and in the environment. The truth is, it could very well take years for unhealthy effects of GMOs to develop. Because the government did not require any pre-market research, we have been eating foods with GMOs since 1996. Without testing and long-term research, some experts believe that GMO foods could have new and different risks for you, your family, and the environment.

Did you know that most vitamins sold on the market are isolated synthetic chemicals? Did you know that vitamin C exists nowhere in nature as ascorbic acid? If you want to get your hands on real vitamin and mineral nutrients – read on.
IT’S TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
• Vitamin C is not Ascorbic Acid
• Vitamin E is not Alpha Tocopherol
• Vitamin A is not Retinoic Acid
What you believe are vitamins, are in fact synthetic chemicals, this is one of the reasons, why you should be enhancing your health through the consumption of a multivitamin and mineral in a food matrix.
Mutivitamins
Most of us need to be taking a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement to ensure your health is at an optimum level. Many of the essential nutrients our bodies need cannot be made internally and can no longer be found in most of the foods we are eating. In particular our soils are quite depleted of minerals which can be seen in scientific studies carried out over decades.
The intake of vitamins and minerals varies from person to person, but there are some groups who are more nutrient-lacking than others. New scientific studies are seeing that we even have a genetic code that tells what nutrients we need more of as individuals.
Disease Linked To Vitamin Deficiency
All disease on some level is nutrient deficiency disease. When you are low in nutrients disease will arise. You will have immune problems if you are low in zinc, diabetes if low in chromium and cancer if selenium is lacking. These are just a few examples. Therefore taking vitamin and mineral supplements can safeguard your health. However they have to be real ones and not chemicals.

One of the most important health issues I stress to my patients is creating, or maintaining, heart health. The best ways to ensure heart health and its all-important job of developing nourishing blood to every part of your body is to prevent plaque buildup and reduced blood flow in arteries. Diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, and certain supplements can work together to accomplish this goal!
In this first of a two-part series, I would like to explain to you a little about what coronary artery disease and blocked arteries can mean. Then we’ll talk about the proactive things you can do to avoid these conditions naturally without drugs or surgery.
Part II will deal with a controversial subject chelation therapy. Chelation methods of detoxing arteries with natural supplements have been an alternative medicine approach to arterial plaque for several years now. Continue reading ‘Heart Health and Clean Arteries – Part 1’ »
